After breakfast we depart for a full day tour to visit the Egyptian Museum, The Pyramids and the Sphinx. The Egyptian Museum houses over 100,000 relics including the magnificent treasures of King Tutankhamen. T he great pyramids lies on the Giza plateau, overlooking Cairo and one of the surviving “seven ancient wonders of the world” there is a great opportunity to take panoramic photos and even visit inside a pyramid if you dare!! Overnight in a sleeping train to Aswan. (B, D)
We arrive in the morning and transfer to the cruise boat docked on the banks of the Nile. After freshening up in our cabins we board a felucca to sail around the Elephantine & Kitchener islands, viewing the Nilometer , Agha khan Mausoleum and the Tombs of Nobles on the west bank of the Nile. We continue to a Nubian Village to learn of the lifestyle and customs of the original inhabitants of this region. Returning to the cruise boat we enjoy lunch and Dinner on board. (B, L, D)
Early morning there is the option to visit the amazing temple complex of Abu Simbel. Otherwise this morning we can visit the markets. Lunch is onboard. In the afternoon the cruise departs and we can watch life on the banks of the Nile from the panoramic decks. A time of complete relaxation to enjoy the facilities on board. On the way we pass via Kom Ombo and stop to visit the temple. (B, L, D)
The journey continues to the town of Edfu where we visit the temple, dedicated to the falcon headed sky God, hours. Disembarking we travel by horse and carriage to visit the almost intact “Temple of Hours”. Then enjoy the Nile during sailing. (B, L, D).
We continue along the river arriving at the ancient capital of Thebes. A high light for every visitor to Egypt is the guided tour of the Valley of the Kings, this magnificent necropolis houses the tombs of the pharaohs including that of King Tutankhamen .we also visit, Habu Temple for king Ramses!!! & the Colossi of Memnon. We have a chance to try an amazing local food made by a local family on the west bank , then our guide introduces to us the amazing Temples of Karnak & Luxor and discover the magnificence of what was once the capital of Egypt. Then board the train back to Cairo (B, D)
Arriving in Cairo mid morning. The rest of the day is spent further exploring Cairo. We visit the amazing citadel of Salah el Din the biggest Islamic fort all over the world. Then we visit Coptic Cairo and some of the oldest churches in the history of Christianity. In the afternoon we take time to visit the vibrant Khan El-KhaliliBazzar. (B)
