Exploring Giza plateau, overlooking Cairo and one of the surviving “seven ancient wonders of the world” there is a great opportunity to take panoramic photos and even visit inside a pyramid if you dare!! After having lunch on the foot of the sphinx, we drive south to Sakkara step pyramid oldest building on earth made out of stone. (Imhoteb) and the memories of Mummy return. Plus so many small pyramids, then to Memphis and the giant statue for king Ramses!! This evening we board sleeper train overnight to Aswan. (B, D) (B, D)
We arrive in the morning and transfer to the hotel, After freshening we will explore the amazing temple and island of ISIS (Philae) which already relocated in 70th last century then we board a felucca to sail around the Elephantine & Kitchener islands, viewing the Nilometer , Agha khan Mausoleum and the Tombs of Nobles on the west bank of the Nile. We continue to a Nubian Village to learn of the lifestyle and customs of the original inhabitants of this region. (B)
This morning we have a very early departure to Abu Simbel to visit the incredible temple built by Ramses II. We also visit the Temple of Hathor, built in honor of the goddess of love and music and Ramses' wife, Queen Nefertari In the afternoon there is free time to enjoy a drink by the pool or shop in the colorful bazaars. We transfer from Aswan to Luxor by an air - conditioned coach. On arrival we check into the hotel to freshen up. Then to the amazing Temple of Karnak. We also explore the Temple of Luxor as the tour of the East Bank continues; discovering the magnificence of what was once the capital of Egypt. (B)
Highlight for all visitors to Egypt is the guided tour of the Valley of the Kings, which after the Pyramids of Giza is the most famous site in Egypt. This magnificent necropolis houses the tombs of the pharaohs, including that of King Tutankhamen. We also visit the Temple of Habu which is the most colorful temples so far and the Colossi of Memnon.
There is time to visit the colorful market of Luxor for gold and silver for which Egypt is justly famous. In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. (B, D)
Arriving in Cairo mid morning. We visit the Egyptian Museum houses over 120,000 relics including the magnificent treasures of King Tutankhamen. With 24 Royal Mummies. The rest of the day is spent further exploring Cairo we visit Coptic Cairo and some of the oldest churches in the history of Christianity. In the afternoon we take time to visit the vibrant Khan el Khalili market. (B)
